Today, KAFLA hosted LA City Mayor Karen Bass, LAPD Chief Dominic Choi, and Captain Aaron Ponce of Olympic Division in a Community Safety Roundtable discussion. Representatives of Community Based Organizations and victims were given an opportunity to share their experiences and frustrations as victims of crime in Koreatown. Korean small business owners expressed concerns regarding retail theft, burglary, follow home robberies, vandalism and negative encounters with homeless individuals. Koreatown residents spoke about stolen vehicles, vehicle break-ins home burglaries, and hate crimes. We know that most of these crimes are not just specific to Koreatown, but that they are city-wide issues.
