Structural Dynamics Engineer 
 
Did you grow up dreaming about being an astronaut?  As a kid did you want to be Captain Kirk, Jean Luc Picard or perhaps the adventures follow the adventures of Han Solo and Luke Skywalker?  Have you always dreamed of wanted to be involved in applying your skills to help explore the stars?
As a Structural Dynamics Engineer here at SpaceX you will have the opportunity to apply your skills shock and vibration testing and analysis on current and next generation rockets and spacecraft.  You will be given the opportunity to solve complex challenges involving our Falcon 9 and Dragon vehicles as we work on revolution programs involving manned space flight, heavy lift capabilities and reusable rockets. 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Rapidly resolve novel dynamics problems through analysis and test
  • Execute dynamic testing from start-to-finish (pre-test analysis, sensor selection & installation, testing, data analysis and model correlation)
  • Perform analyses using commercial and in-house codes as well as write new simulation code
 
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum BS in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 1-2 years hands on experience in structural dynamics or related field.
 
Preferred skills and Experience:
  • Experience using LS-DYNA
  • Experience with NASTRAN (knowledge of DMAP programming strongly desired)
  • Finite element modeling experience (use of FEMAP preferred)
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational, communication and documentation skills
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis and test, including a fundamental understanding of strength, stability and fatigue failure mechanisms
  • A “can do” attitude and the ability/enthusiasm necessary to work in a unique, fast-paced environment
